SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award following the 2016-17 academic year with an overall 3.47 grade point average, the AVCA announced earlier this week.
This is the second academic honor the women's volleyball team received this season as they were also named a 2016-17 NAIA Scholar-Team. Lawrence Tech was one of 51 NAIA institutions to earn the Team Academic Honor and was one of 822 total teams from high schools all the way up to NCAA Division I.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
