TIFFIN, Ohio – The Lawrence Technological University men's and women's tennis teams both dropped matches to Tiffin University. The men fell 2-6 making their record 2-1 while the women suffered their second scoreless match of the season losing 0-9. They fall to 0-2.
Sergio Lopez (SR/Madrid, Spain) and Javier Alvarez (JR/Santiago de Compostela, Spain) were defeated 8-6 by Ludena and Lutting at No. 1 doubles. Jan Horstkoetter (SO/Cologne, Germany) and Mason Wenzel (JR/Howell, MI) fell at No. 2 doubles as Lezama and Isaac sealed their match 8-2. In the third doubles Vincent Colarossi (JR/Dearborn Heights, MI) and Stijn Bremer (FR/Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherland) lost 8-6 to Mangone and Koftoner.
Lopez came out on top at No. 1 singles winning against Ludena 6-2, 6-3. Also winning their singles match was Horstkoetter. Robert Saitov (SO/Ufa, Bashkortostan Republic Ru) was defeated 1-6, 3-6 and Wenzel and Colarossi were beaten 3-6, 3-6 and 2-6, 2-6.
On the women's side it was all Tiffin University as LTU dropped all three doubles matches, as well as all six singles matches. Carolyn McCullen (JR/Westland, Mich.) and Sabrina Mateos were defeated by Nelhage and Kaye 8-2 at first doubles. At No. 2 and No. 3 doubles Brittany Schmidt (JR/Richmond, Mich.) and Ana Hernandez Munt (SR/Barcelona, Spain) were defeated 8-1 by Sim and Musina and Maria Alvarez (FR/Ames, La Coruna, Spain) and Sarah Burgess (FR/Ortonville, Mich.) lost 8-0 to tandem Avram and Brozovich.
Both teams are back in action on September 10 at the Southfield Tennis Courts as they take on Olivet College. First serve is set for 12:00 P.M.
