SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University closed the home season with a 9-0 sweep of Concordia (Mich.) University – Ann Arbor on Monday afternoon in Southfield, Mich.
Lawrence Tech (13-10, 2-3 WHAC) opened the match with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles as Paige Fallu (SO/Livonia, Mich.) and Rylie Fallu (SO/Livonia, Mich.) defeated Alex Beall and Megan Hamilton to take a 1-0 lead. Ana Hernandez Munt (JR/Barcelona, Spain) and Brittany Schmidt (SO/Richmond, Mich.) easily dispatched Kaylee Tucker and Emily Neumeyer 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to give LTU A 2-0 lead with No. 2 doubles left to play.
R. Fallu opened singles action with a win at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0 followed by a 6-1, 6-2 win by P. Fallu at No. 2 singles to seal the all-important fifth point of the match. Coolsaet gave LTU a 6-0 lead following her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Hernandez swept her match 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles with Schmidt taking down Jenna Smith 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
McCullen closed the day out with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles to wrap up the 9-0 sweep over CUAA.
Lawrence Tech is back on the court Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. to finish the suspended match with Indiana Tech at University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.
