GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win at Cornerstone (Mich.) University in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday night.
Lawrence Tech (12-8, 1-1 WHAC) swept the doubles competitions including a 9-8 (3) win at No. 1 doubles with Paige Fallu (SO/Livonia, Mich.) and Rylie Fallu (SO/Livonia, Mich.) beating Heidi Boesl and Ashley Greene. Carolyn McCullen (SO/Westland, Mich.) and Missy Coolsaet (SO/Grosse lle, Mich.) defeated Rachel Kono and Nicole Huizenga 8-1 at No. 2 doubles while Ana Hernandez Munt (JR/Barcelona, Spain) and Brittany Schmidt (SO/Richmond, Mich.) won at No. 3 doubles 8-2.
Hernandez Munt was the first Blue Devil to earn a point in singles competition with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles to give LTU a 4-0 lead. Coolsaet sealed the conference win at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kali Holmes. R. Fallu took the point at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Huizenga while P. Fallu took down Ashley Greene 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singes to give LTU a 7-0 lead with two matches to go.
Schmidt cruised at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-0 over Tori Young while McCullen earned the ninth point of the day for the Blue Devils with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Lawrence Tech is back on the court April 14 at 4 p.m. when they host (RV) Davenport (Mich.) University at Southfield Tennis Courts.
